Had some time to work on this one today so I finished the inking – my favorite part!

I was in San Diego visiting family a few months ago and picked up a frame while thrift store shopping with my aunt. It cost all of one dollar so she bought it for me and I’ve been meaning to put something in it ever since. These are the preliminary sketches for a watercolor that I plan to make for the frame. Each panel is only about 3” wide so it’s fairly small. After looking at photos of caterpillars and monarch butterflies for a while, I’m starting to find them a little creepy.

I was experimenting with clayboard a couple weeks ago and did these. They’re each 5″x7″. I’d like to do more but I want to see if I can figure out some different techniques first.
